The Burning Ship fractal is a fractal in the complex plane, first described and created by Michael Michelitsch and Otto E. Rossler in 1992. It is generated by an iterative process similar to the Mandelbrot set, except that the absolute values of the real and imaginary components of each iterate are taken before the iterate is squared. This absolute value step makes the underlying map non-analytic, since it violates the Cauchy-Riemann equations that hold for the ordinary Mandelbrot iteration. Rendered images of the fractal are conventionally reflected vertically, and sometimes horizontally, for visual effect, producing the ship-like silhouette that gives the fractal its name. Is Kind Of Object
Entity-backed identity for the object-kind enum value this mathematical object already carries, resolved to a mathematics concept by an explicit value-to-entity map (phase 3 bucket conversion, docs\design_entity_backed_browse_buckets_20260928.md). The object-kind fact itself stays on the object unchanged.
