Hyperboloid model

Geometry

The hyperboloid model is a model of n dimensional hyperbolic geometry in which points are represented by points on the forward sheet of a two sheeted hyperboloid embedded in an n plus one dimensional Minkowski space. Hyperbolic space is embedded isometrically in this Minkowski space, meaning the hyperbolic distance function is inherited directly from the distance structure of the Minkowski space itself. Because of its association with Hermann Minkowski, the model is also called the Minkowski model, and it stands alongside other representations of hyperbolic geometry such as the Poincare disk model and the Beltrami-Klein model.
