Classical Athens

Nationality culture groups mathematicians by the country and culture they came from. Wikipedia notes Noether "was born to a Jewish family in the Franconian town of Erlangen" and was later dismissed from her German university post in 1933 "when Germany's Nazi government dismissed Jews from university positions." This dimension shows how a mathematician's own background shaped the course of their career.
