Rudolf Clausius

Modern

Rudolf Clausius did important work in thermodynamics. He was born in Koslin, Prussia (now Koszalin, Poland) on 2 January 1822 and died in Bonn on 24 August 1888. He developed the theorem that relates the heat flow in a system to its entropy and to the entropy of its surroundings, and the Clausius theorem, also called the Clausius inequality, carries his name, a result at the border between mathematics and physics.
