In geometry, a disk, also spelled disc, is the region in a plane bounded by a circle. A disk is called closed if it includes the bounding circle and open if it does not; an open disk of radius r is commonly denoted D sub r and a closed disk of radius r is denoted with an overline, while in topology the closed unit disk is usually written D squared and the open unit disk as the interior of D squared.
