George Szekeres was a Hungarian-born mathematician who worked for most of his life in Australia on geometry and combinatorics. He was born in Budapest on 29 May 1911 and died in Adelaide on 28 August 2005. His collaboration with Paul Erdős is a major part of his record, and his work on continued fractions is linked to his name. His life ran from Budapest to Adelaide, so he is a bridge between Hungarian and Australian mathematics.
