Hans Hahn (27 September 1879 to 24 July 1934) was an Austrian mathematician and philosopher who made contributions to functional analysis, topology, set theory, the calculus of variations, real analysis and order theory. Born in Vienna, he switched from law to mathematics in 1899 and took his doctorate at the University of Vienna in 1902 under Gustav von Escherich. After a period as extraordinary professor in Czernowitz, he was badly wounded in the First World War in 1916, became a professor at Bonn in 1917 and later returned to Vienna. In philosophy he was among the main logical positivists of the Vienna Circle.
