Harold Mead Stark is a number theorist at the University of California, San Diego. The Mathematics Genealogy Project records his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley in 1964, with a dissertation titled On the Tenth Complex Quadratic Field with Class Number One written under Derrick Henry Lehmer, and lists many students, among them Jeffrey Lagarias, Andrew Odlyzko, M. Ram Murty, Jeffrey Hoffstein and Theodore Chinburg. The department profile names his honors as membership of the National Academy of Sciences, fellowship of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and of the American Mathematical Society, and a Sloan Research Fellowship.
