Leopold Kronecker was a German mathematician, born on 7 December 1823 and died on 29 December 1891, who worked on number theory, abstract algebra and logic, and criticized Georg Cantor's work on set theory. Heinrich Weber quoted him as having said, in German, that God made the integers and all else is the work of man. Kronecker was a student and life-long friend of Ernst Kummer, the German number theorist, and his criticism of Cantor is one of the well-known disputes over the foundations of mathematics.
