Moritz Pasch was a German mathematician who worked on the foundations of geometry. He found a number of assumptions in Euclid that nobody had noticed before. He was born in Breslau, Prussia (now Wrocław, Poland) on 8 November 1843 and died in Bad Homburg on 20 September 1930. His axiom about a line entering a triangle, now called Pasch's axiom, filled a gap in the logic of Euclid, and he was a pioneer of rigorous axiomatic geometry that Hilbert later perfected.
