Peter Frankl (born 1953) is a Hungarian mathematician, street performer, columnist and educator active in Japan, where he has lived since 1988. He works in extremal combinatorics, wrote seven joint papers with Paul Erdos and eleven with Ronald Graham, and in 1979 proposed the union-closed sets conjecture that now carries his name. He won a gold medal at the International Mathematical Olympiad in 1971.
