Codimension measures the difference in dimension between a mathematical object, such as a subspace or submanifold, and the larger ambient space that contains it, computed as the ambient dimension minus the object's own dimension. In linear algebra, the codimension of a subspace equals the dimension of any complementary subspace, while in topology and algebraic geometry, the codimension of a submanifold or subvariety describes how many independent conditions are needed to cut it out locally. A hyperplane inside an n-dimensional space, for instance, has codimension one, since it can be described by a single equation. Is Kind Of Object
Entity-backed identity for the object-kind enum value this mathematical object already carries, resolved to a mathematics concept by an explicit value-to-entity map (phase 3 bucket conversion, docs\design_entity_backed_browse_buckets_20260928.md). The object-kind fact itself stays on the object unchanged.
