Number Theory

A googol is the large number 10 to the power of 100, written in decimal notation as a 1 followed by one hundred zeros. Its systematic name is ten duotrigintillion on the short scale, and its prime factorization is 2 to the power of 100 times 5 to the power of 100. The term is used chiefly as an example of an extremely large but still finite and well defined number, useful for illustrating the scale of very large quantities.
