Bertrand's postulate states that for every integer greater than one there is a prime number between it and its double. It was first conjectured in 1845 by Joseph Bertrand, first proven by Pafnuty Chebyshev, and a shorter but still advanced proof was later given by Srinivasa Ramanujan.
